We can all come up with various and creative ways to offset our negative impact on the environment. At Herdade Moita, we believe that small changes can lead to a big impact!

We have implemented a series of initiatives aimed primarily at eliminating our environmental footprint and avoiding emissions. When it's not possible to completely eliminate our impact during certain activities, we strive to find the most efficient way to carry them out.

Therefore:

The laundry service is provided by an external company that can achieve a scale of energy efficiency and water savings that is impossible for a small unit like ours.

We have adopted a water usage reduction program that utilizes a small reservoir to reuse water runoff from adjacent irrigated land, allowing us to water our gardens.

We heat water using solar panels, but on cloudy days or when consumption exceeds our expectations, we have to resort to a boiler.

We only purchase locally (within a 50 km radius).

We plan to diversify vegetable cultivation, and we believe that soon everything consumed will be produced on the propertie.

Despite these initiatives aimed at avoiding negative impacts, we want more. Therefore, in partnership with Treethis, we will offset the carbon emissions of our guests. There are various ways to become tree planters. However, it has been shown that reforestation projects managed by professionals in protected areas with specially chosen species provide the best guarantees.
